You might have heard of Dr Kate Granger, MBE. She’s changed the world for thousands of patients, in the UK and far beyond. Diagnosed with terminal cancer at 29, she wanted to make a difference to patient experience. With the simple message “Hello, my name is…” she showed medical professionals how much impact just a basic introduction like that could have.
Kate and her amazing husband Chris set out on a tour of NHS hospitals and centres in the summer of 2015, with Kate telling her story and spreading the HMNI message. I had the incredible privilege of joining them for one of those days, in North West England, to document the tour. Here are just some of the memories from that day. There was cake, and black pudding, and a few tears, and lots and lots and lots of love and laughter.
If her story inspires you to do something yourself, make a donation here, please. In the last few days of her life, Kate saw her fundraising top a quarter of a million pounds. There’s no reason to stop there.
Kate died on 23 July 2016. Her mission didn’t.
