15 minutes at Montmartre

Views of Paris on a winter afternoon

A crisp winter afternoon in Paris - heading to a shoot in the 16th, from my train at the Gare du Nord. As ever, on the Brompton, but this time I decided to do a quick detour up to the Sacré-Cœur to see how the city looked from there. I'm glad I did. Mostly taken with the long (560mm max) zoom telephoto, hand-held, which did attract a few looks. (See my profile pic for its scale).

Probably no more than 15 minutes up there, and a quick wiggle round the side to find a view through the railings of the Eiffel Tower. You can get an idea of the context of these shots in this marvellous large panorama from the top of the cathedral.

Big thanks to Twitter friends old and new who helped me identify the main buildings (captioned on each pic) - I know a lot more about Paris now than I did!
